About Us
Dr. Pontious grew up in Utah, Nevada, and California, and graduated from high school in Long Beach, CA. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine, DMD, in 2006 from Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Pontious married Denise (Smith) who was born in Florence, Colorado, and they are the proud parents of 7 children. In his free time, Dr. Pontious loves to fish, enjoys hiking in the Colorado Mountains, and surfing in California. Spending time outdoors is how he finds relaxation and he enjoys spending time with his family.
His professional goal is to be the best dentist for you and your family.
Amanda graduated from PIMA Medical Institute in 2003 with her certificate in Dental Assisting and Radiology. In 2006, an opportunity opened for her at Dr. Pontious’ office where she has continued to learn and grow ever since. In her spare time, she loves to cook, hike, and spend time outdoors. Amanda’s absolute favorite thing is spending time with her husband and children.
Denise has been a Dental Assistant since 1991 and started working for Dr. Pontious in 2017. She attended the University of Oklahoma and Heritage College of Health Careers in Denver. Denise and her husband love living in Cañon City, riding their bikes near the river, and taking special care of their beautiful home.
Jessica graduated hygiene school in 2022 from Pueblo Community College. She was born and raised in Cañon City. Jessica has two kids, a daughter and son, and likes to take them camping and swimming and enjoys spending time outdoors.
Pam was born in Pueblo, Colorado, and graduated the Dental Assistant program in 1992 from Pueblo Community College. She has been an expanded duty dental assistant since 1993. She is married to her husband, Wes, and she has two kids, a daughter and son, and four step children. In her spare time, Pam enjoys watching her daughter playing volleyball in college and her son playing football. Pam also enjoys gardening and taking fun adventures, and hiking to different waterfalls with her husband.
Shelby, Registered Dental Hygienist
Shelby graduated from Pueblo Community College in 2021. She is originally from Southern California and moved to Colorado in 2010. Shelby enjoys traveling with her husband, riding and competing with her horses, and spending time with her dogs.
